St. Petersburg
String Quartet
Alla Aranovskaya, first violin, Alla Krolevich, second violin, Boris Vayner, viola and Leonid Shukayev, cello,
One of the world's leading string quartets, the St. Petersburg was founded as the Leningrad Quartet by Alla Aranovskaya, Alla Krolevich (Goryainova) and Leonid Shukayev, all three graduates of the Leningrad Conservatory.
The St. Petersburg Quartet blazed a trail through international chamber music competitions, winning First Prize at the All-Soviet Union String Quartet Competition, the Silver Medal and a Special Prize at the Tokyo International Competition of Chamber Ensembles, First Prize and both Special Prizes at the Vittorio Gui International Competition for Chamber Ensembles in Florence, Italy, and First Prize and the "Grand Prix Musica Viva" at the International Competition for Chamber Ensembles in Melbourne, Australia.

Borealis
String Quartet

One of the most dynamic and exciting world-class ensembles of its
generation, the Borealis String Quartet has received critical acclaim as an
ensemble praised for its fiery performances, passionate style, and refined,
musical interpretation.
Founded in Vancouver, British Columbia in the fall of 2000 and rapidly
establishing a stellar reputation, the Borealis created a national sensation as
the only classical ensemble televised on the Great Canadian Music Dream
Competition hosted by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).
Consequently, they were invited to perform for the Prime Minister of Canada
at the Canada Day Celebrations on Parliament Hill in front of an audience of
over 75,000.
The Borealis has received enthusiastic acclaim from audiences in major cities
in North America, including in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Los
Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, where they played to a sold-out
audience for the Schneider Concerts Series. Recent performances have
included tours of Mexico, Taiwan, and North America. The Borealis
served as Quartet-in-Residence for the June Music Festival in
Albuquerque, New Mexico, Magic City Chamber Music Festival in
Birmingham, Alabama and the Winter Chamber Music Festival in Tucson,
Arizona.

The Borromeo
String Quartet

Audiences around the world respond with exhilaration to what the critics call the "razor sharp intensity" and "heart stopping" performances of the award-winning Borromeo String Quartet. Quickly establishing itself as one of the most important string quartets performing today, Borromeo String Quartet has been hailed by The New York Times as "outstanding" and the Boston Globe as "simply the best there is". During the 2008-2009 season, the Borromeo Quartet will perform over 100 concerts in major venues across three continents. Carpe Diem
String Quartet

Carpe Diem String Quartet, in residence at Ohio Wesleyan University, is an exciting group that has captured the imagination of audiences, the respect of critics, and is becoming one of the most versatile ensembles of their generation. Carpe Diem has earned critical acclaim with innovative programs, electrifying performances, and a passion for audience engagement.
Carpe Diem continues several ambitious projects, including the complete recordings of the nine string quartets of Sergey Taneyev on the Naxos label. The quartet continues its collaboration with Columbus Dance Theater; and their joint project "The String Machine” was aired by WOSU-PBS television through 2007-2008. Carpe Diem has created an exciting program with international accordion and bandoneon performer Peter Soave, "¡Viva Piazzolla!” This program was featured in June 2008 at the prestigious Fontana Music Festival. This season, Carpe Diem is launching a dynamic new concert series in Columbus called “Seize The Music.”
The quartet is committed to changing the concert experience of chamber music. Using innovative programming, thematic concerts, and popular music for younger generations; cameras, and video to assist in the visual presentation; as well as speaking from the stage to better engage the audience; Carpe Diem is bringing new audiences into the concert hall and revitalizing the chamber music recital. The quartet is dedicated to giving back to the community, and has created two new programs, MusiCare, and Music Goes To School, that will enable Carpe Diem to bring music to everyone in the Central Ohio area, regardless of their means or circumstances.

The Henschel
String Quartet
Christoph Henschel, violin, Markus Henschel, violin, Monika Henschel-Schwind, viola and Mathias Beyer-Karlsh, cello
In 1994 the Henschel siblings had the great fortune to find the ideal cello partner in Mathias Beyer-Karlsh. In 1995 The Henschel String Quartet were prize-winners of no less than five prizes at International String Quartet competitions for the best interpretation of works ranging from Mozart up to contemporary composers.
This season's engagements include, amongst others, the Henschel Quartet`s third BBC Proms appearance, concerts in the Wigmore Hall London, at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, the Royal Spanish Court in Madrid, appearances as Cultural Ambassadors for Germany in Brussels Bozar and at the re-opening of the Anna-Amalia Library in Germany (UNESCO World Culture Heritage), as well as their 11th concert tour of Japan in addition to concerts in the USA, following the Quartet`s residency at Tanglewood Festival.
The Henschel Quartet has recorded for SonyBMG, EMI, Deutsche Grammophon and others. Many of their recordings have been awarded major prizes by the international press, their Mendelssohn Box Complete String Quartets was ranked No.1 at the HMV Charts 2006 & 2007. In 2006 the Henschel Quartet was officially appointed musical Ambassadors of the SOS Children`s Villages.

Piano Trio Voce
Jasmine Lin, violin, Patricia Tao, piano and Marina Hoover, cello.
Trio Voce is a spectacular new piano trio that thrills audiences with their passion, enthusiasm
and ability to make the written music come alive. The three individuals of Trio Voce
communicate as one voice (“voce” in Italian), whether they are performing the repertoire of
Haydn or that of the present day. All three members, Jasmine Lin, Marina Hoover and Patricia
Tao, are established musicians, who have studied with some of the great masters at schools
such as Curtis, Yale and Harvard, have a demonstrated depth of experience as collaborators
and as performers on the international stages throughout the world, and have championed
recent music through commissions, premieres and recordings of works by living composers.
Their collaboration in this Trio has resulted in a new and outstanding synergy, apparent with
every performance they give, and bringing verve and excitement to audiences of all ages.
Recent and upcoming performances include the Music Guild of Los Angeles, the Ottawa
Chamber Music Festival and Vancouver's Music in the Morning. New projects include a
recording of the trios of Shostakovich and Weinberg, to be released in the fall of 2010. During
the 2010-11 season, Trio Voce will premiere a new work written for them by Stanford
composer Jonathan Berger.
