Biography

An accomplished flutist, Dr. Glicklich is currently Principal Flute of the Los Angeles Jewish  Symphony and has performed with many of Southern California’s premier ensembles, including  the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, and Long Beach Symphony. A  versatile and in-demand musician, he has collaborated with major artists such as Neil Diamond,  Harry Connick Jr., and the Hollywood Klezmer Ensemble, and has shared the stage with  luminaries like Marvin Hamlisch, Theodore Bikel, Marilyn Horne, and Midori. His playing  is also featured on numerous television and film soundtracks, reflecting his range and artistry  across genres.

In addition to his performance career, Dr. Glicklich is a passionate and dedicated educator whose  influence extends across generations of young musicians. Many of his former flute students have  gone on to successful careers in performance, education, and arts management, with some  securing positions in top orchestras such as the Houston Symphony and Atlanta Symphony.

Dr. Glicklich currently serves on the faculty of the Colburn Community School of Performing  Arts, where he coaches chamber music and is also the coordinator for the Introduction to  Chamber Music program. He is also on the faculty at La Sierra University, where he teaches  flute and coaches chamber music. His teaching philosophy emphasizes not only technical  excellence but also musical expression, collaboration, and a lifelong love for the arts.

As Director of the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at La Sierra University (2013– 2017), Dr. Glicklich led an ambitious revitalization of the university’s community arts program.  Under his leadership, enrollment doubled in just two years. He introduced new programs in  choral music, beginning strings, chamber music, and group instruction, while establishing a  need-based scholarship system to provide access to students in underserved communities. His  work in curriculum development and faculty recruitment helped establish a vibrant, sustainable  model for community-based music education.

He was also the Founder and Director of La Sierra University's Summer Music Programs,  growing the initiative from one two-week camp into five distinct programs for students from  kindergarten through high school. These immersive programs provided instruction in  performance, theory, and ensemble collaboration, culminating in celebratory gala concerts that  incorporated visual and dramatic arts alongside music.

Dr. Glicklich’s commitment to public education is equally impactful. As a Music Consultant for  the Alvord Unified School District, he led efforts to reinstate elementary band and choir  programs after a 15-year absence, designing curriculum, training staff, and building a strong  foundation for continued music education at the elementary level.

He has also served as Interim Chair of Winds and Percussion and Conductor of the Wind  Ensemble at La Sierra University, overseeing all aspects of program administration, including  scholarship allocation, concert planning, and faculty management.

Beyond his direct work with students, Dr. Glicklich is a committed advocate for music education  and arts leadership. He serves as Vice President of the Southwestern Youth Music Festival  (SYMF), Regional Co-Director of the Elite International Music Festival, and is an active  board member of the Westside Music Foundation. His administrative leadership and  community involvement reflect his belief that music is not just an art form, but a vital, unifying  force in society.

Dr. Glicklich has also shared his insights through speaking engagements, including a  presentation at the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) State  Conference on “Reinventing Our Role as Music Educators.” He was featured on AM 590’s  California Senior Guide, where he discussed his leadership role at the Montecito International  Music Festival and the critical role of classical music in today’s culture.

In 2015, Dr. Glicklich was honored by the City of Riverside and the Riverside Arts Council as  an Arts and Innovation Honoree, recognizing his transformative impact on music education  and community arts engagement.

As Executive and Artistic Director of The Music Guild, Dr. Glicklich is uniquely positioned to  guide the organization into a new era of artistic excellence, educational expansion, and  community outreach. With a deep respect for tradition and an innovative spirit, he looks forward  to enriching lives through music and ensuring that chamber music continues to thrive for future  generations.
